C3 Church’s Long-Time Leader, Bernie Kelsey Diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer

C3 Church’s long-time leader, pastor Bernie Kelsey, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after returning from a recent trip.

Bernie’s husband Mark Kelsey who has been involved in planting and growing churches in Australia and the United States, and is now a part of the C3 Church Global Team, broke the news on social media, seeking support from his followers.

“An unexpected wave has hit us in the past few days,” Mark Shared. “After returning from our latest Xpress adventure a couple of weeks ago, Bernie has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.”

Following the diagnosis, Bernie underwent a radical hysterectomy and removal of an abdominal tumor last Friday. She is currently recovering from the surgery and preparing for several rounds of chemotherapy in the coming weeks.

The pastor expressed his hope for Bernie’s recovery and total healing. He urged his global followers to stand with them during this difficult time.

Responding to the news, C3 Church, a thriving global church led by pastors Phil and Chris Pringle, called for a worldwide outpouring of support for the Kelsey family.

The church emphasizes prayer as a primary source of support for the couple, encouraging their international congregation to keep their family in their prayers.

“We stand with our dear friends in complete faith for healing and full recovery,” they shared on social media. “Please keep both Bernie and Mark and the extended family in your prayers.”

In addition to prayers, the church acknowledges the potential financial burden the Kelseys may face. They revealed that close friends, Jacob and SJ Leung, have established a GoFundMe page to assist with Bernie’s extensive medical costs, despite private health insurance.

“If you’re able to contribute or share the page, it would go a long way to support them as they navigate these challenges,” the church states. “At this stage, this financial support is the best, and most practical way to support them.”

While well wishes and expressions of love are welcome, the church politely requests those wishing to send flowers or gifts to coordinate with the C3 Church Global Office.
