Theme For David Jeremiah Devotional 1 March 2020 – FAMOUS MARCHES: THE EXODUS

But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Exodus 14:29

The Red Sea is at its maximum depth is over 9,000 feet. Its average depth is about 1,600 feet. Scholars believe the area of the Israelite’s march was 300 feet deep and 9 miles long. The escape was made during the night. Perhaps you can imagine walking down a city street with skyscrapers rising up on every side. Now in your mind convert those skyscrapers into quivering walls of congealed water. Though it was during the darkest hours, the Lord’s presence lit up the route like giant floodlights. He was making a way for His children.

Hymnist Isaac Watts compared life to a march, saying, “We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion.” Along the way, we confront challenges and problems. But God always makes a way for His children. He can part the waters, turn curses to blessings, answer prayers, and lead us wisely. He knows the way through the wilderness and through the waters.

Whatever you’re going through, God will make a way as you simply trust and obey Him.

Then let our songs abound and every tear be dry; / We’re marching through Emmanuel’s ground to fairer worlds on high.
Isaac Watts
