Gaza Loses Power Supply Following Blockade Order

Gaza Loses Power Supply Following Blockade Order: Gaza’s sole power station has ceased operations as the fuel required to generate energy  has ran out on according to Gaza officials. The power station, which was already operating at a limited capacity due to ongoing conflicts and restrictions, has now completely shut down. This has resulted in widespread blackouts across the Gaza Strip, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation for its residents.

“Gaza is currently without power,” the head of the Gaza power authority, Galal Ismail, told CNN.

The power plant’s shutdown comes days after the Israeli government said it would order a “complete siege” of the Palestinian enclave.

Following a large-scale strike on Israel over the weekend, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a “complete siege” on Gaza on Monday, stating he will cut off its supplies of electricity, food, water, and gasoline.

People in Gaza still use power generators for electricity, but with a blockade on all sides of the border, the fuel needed for generators to work is running out, Ismail said.
