How to Handle Gossip About You By Diga Hernandez

Gossip can be a painful and hurtful experience, especially when it involves your reputation. While it’s natural to feel anger or resentment, responding with wisdom can be a powerful way to defuse the situation and reflect your character.

Drawing references from the scripture, renowned author, evangelist, and healing minister, David Diga Hernandez offers powerful guidance on responding to gossip with wisdom even in the face of negativity.

Here, according to Diga Hernandez Tuesday teaching shared on his Instagram are ways to handle gossip about you:

  1. Pray for those who Gossip about you: Hernandez reminds us of Matthew 5:44: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” This powerful act allows us to see beyond the bitterness and recognize the pain driving their words. By praying for those who gossip, we disarm their negativity and choose compassion over confrontation.
  2. Stay Silent: (Mathew 26:62-63) “Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.
This passage offers another profound strategy which is silence. When Jesus faced unjust accusations, He remained silent. In a world fueled by noise and reactions, choosing silence can disarm gossip mongers. They thrive on our engagement, so withholding it disrupts their web of falsehoods.
“If you defend yourself they will say you are gaslighting,” Hernandez said. “If you defend yourself they will say you are manipulating, If you stay silent, they will claim you have no defense. But at least if you stay silent you  won’t give them any new material to twist”

3. Remember that God is for you: Romans 8:31 offers unshakeable confidence. “What, then, shall we                 say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” While gossip can                                 momentarily wound, God’s presence offers ultimate vindication.

May you always find the courage and wisdom to handle gossip about you.
