Israel Strikes Lebanese Territory After Attack On Military Post

Israel Strikes Lebanese Territory After Attack On Military Post:  The Israel Defense Forces reported Wednesday that after anti-tank missiles were fired at a military installation of the IDF close to the Lebanese border, Israel began an attack inside Lebanese territory.

Hezbollah, a Lebanese organization, claimed responsibility for firing “guided missiles” at an Israeli target in retaliation for the Monday killings of three of its members.

The IDF said it shelled the area in Lebanon where the anti-tank missile was fired.

“In response to the anti-tank missile fired at IDF soldiers a short while ago, an IDF aircraft struck a military observation post belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in southern Lebanon. Furthermore, IDF artillery struck the area from which the launch originated,” the IDF said.

Israeli troops were killed and injured in the attack, according to Hezbollah. When CNN questioned the IDF over the casualties, they did not react right away.

According to Lebanese state media NNA, heavy shelling near the Israeli border had resumed on Wednesday, and gunfire was audible in the Lebanese villages of Yarine, Marwahin, and Al-Duheira.

Cross-border exchanges: According to Al Manar, a Hezbollah-owned Lebanese publication, rockets were also fired at Israel on Tuesday from south Lebanon. The rockets’ launcher was not claimed to be Hezbollah.

Another indication of rising tensions along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon was the IDF’s claim that it reacted with artillery fire.
