Pastor Jentezen teaches in this message about how our faith can impact generations. We have to know what kind of faith we have because there is a lot of faith outside. The only faith we should have is faith in God. A lot of people believe in different kinds of faith, but we are to be careful of ours as Christians. There is structured faith, which means a ceremonial faith; they believe because they were raised in church, so they believe in the church and the ceremonies of the church. It’s not something that they have; it’s what their mother raised them in, but we are to have personal faith with God. There should be real faith in us, not church faith, ceremony faith, or abstract faith. There is a transferable faith that we get when we have a close relationship with God. That is the kind of faith that was found in Timothy. Paul says, “Timothy, the faith that I see in you is sincere and very real. I saw it first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I’m persuaded it’s in you. Timothy got the faith because his grandma got it, and she transferred it because it was personal. The only kind of faith that is transferable is personal.
We can’t have a distant relationship with God and transfer it to our children; it has to be a personal and close relationship with God. We can’t have a lukewarm relationship with Jesus and pass on a red-hot passion for Jesus to our children. The only faith that can be transferred is personal faith. We need to get close to God so that we can have personal faith in Him, which our children and everyone around us can have.
