Joseph Walker III to Address Southern University Graduates at Fall Commencement: Mt. Zion Baptist Church Nashville senior pastor Joseph Walker III is thrilled to announce that he will be the keynote speaker for Southern University Graduate’s Fall 2023 Commencement ceremony.
In a Friday Instagram post, Walker beckoned all to join him to celebrate the latest graduates. The event will be held on Friday, December 15th, at 10:00 am in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
“Feeling honored and excited to be the Fall 2023 Commencement Speaker for my alma mater @southernu_br,” Walker announced. Join me on Friday, December 15th at 10am in the F.G. Clark Activity Center to celebrate the accomplishments of these incredible graduates,” he added.
Walker a proud alumus of Southern University holds three honorary doctorates from the school. He also received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge Louisiana; a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. He holds three honorary Doctorates from Meharry Medical College, and Kentucky State University, respectively.
Walker is a regular guest at each of these schools. He has long enjoyed a successful career in leadership, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration and offering students spiritual, moral, educational, and financial support.
Last month, Walker’s church set a precedent with ground-breaking educational support for students and universities. It awarded over $500,000 to universities and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) on the occasion of its College Sunday event.
Additionally, the church established a historic Purge Fund for Tennessee State University (TSU) and Fisk University.
Walker currently serves on the Board of Directors for Meharry Medical College and Citizens Savings Bank & Trust. He is also the International Presiding Bishop in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.
The Fall 2023 Commencement ceremony marks a significant milestone for Southern University graduates. This year, the university will celebrate thousands of students who have dedicated themselves to academic excellence and personal growth.
The graduating class however, will witness Walker who has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, making himself an ideal role model.
