Jesus told him that except a mind is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The greatest miracle of God is when God creates new life. In our new life, God remakes our soul and gives us what we need. He gives us a new heart that has been cleansed by Christ. The second birth is for eternal life. The question is how active were you in your first birth? This is a question we obviously have no answer to. we were passive in our first birth and it is the same in our second birth. It is by grace and not by our own works. The blood of Jesus has done all the work, all we have to do is to believe.
