Pastor Craig Groeschel: When It Is Hard To Obey

Today we bring you a very interesting discussion from Pastor Craig Groeschel which is titled “When It Is Hard To Obey”. The text for the message is from the Matthew 1:18.

Pastor Craig Groeschel starts the message by telling us that Life is measured in moment. Life is not measured in time. The reason is that you may hardly remember a whole year, months or even weeks, but you will remember every specific moment from the past week.

This message looked at the four specific holy moments in the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, especially the powerful moment of Obedience.

You may have no idea what God can do through one moment of obedience. There are times when we might feel prompted to say something or to do something, or give something but we do not know all the details. However, we don’t do it and in the future and wonder what plan of God we have missed out on.

From the scripture text, we are taken through the life of Joseph, the father of Jesus. Joseph was engaged to be married to Mary when he unexpectedly, Mary became pregnant. To make matters worse, the pregnancy was not his as they were not yet allowed to consummate their marriage.

When Joseph found out that Mary, his betrothed was pregnant, he did consider breaking off the engagement. However, an angel came to him in a dream and simply told him not to do that. Joseph simply obeyed; he did not ask for a sign or the details or negotiated with God. In verse 24 of the text, it tells us that when Joseph woke up from his dream, he did as the Lord commanded him.

pastor Groeschel taught that if there is one statement that we would want to be true of us it would be that we did what God commanded of us. Let it be that we were obedient without understanding any of the details to come.

God proves this thought to us; that you do not need to completely understand him to obey immediately. You do not need every single detail and you do not need to understand the end if there is God in the beginning.

Sometimes, it’s hard to obey. You know what’s right, but in the moment, it can be tough to choose obedience to God. How can you learn to make choices that honor God even when it’s hard? In this message, we’ll learn how one moment of obedience can change our lives.
