Greg Laurie Biography
Pastor Laurie was born on December 10, 1952 (age 69) at Long Beach, California, U.S, by a single mother who had seven marriages. Working as a newspaper delivery man for the Daily Pilot in Los Angeles, CA was his first job.
He grew up in Southern California and had a turbulent upbringing, facing issues like drug use and rebellion during his teenage years. His life took a significant turn when he encountered the Christian faith during the Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s..
Laurie gave his life to Christ at the age of 17 during the period when the Jesus Movement was exploding in Southern California. From then on, he became a devout Christian at Newport Harbor High School under the ministry of evangelist Lonnie Frisbee.
Pastor Laurie is also widely recognized for his evangelistic events and crusades, where he addresses large audiences with the message of the Gospel. His annual “Harvest Crusade” events have drawn thousands of attendees, both in person and through live broadcasts.
Education
Pastor Laurie attended the Newport Harbour High School in California. There is no information about his college education but Laurie holds two honorary doctorates from Biola University and Azusa Pacific University.
