Pastor Laura Toggs Shares Journey of Building Parable Church
Pastor Laura Toggs has shared the inspiring story of how she and her husband Peter Toggs established Parable Church.
In a recent social media post, she recounted the unexpected blessings and divine guidance they have encountered along the way.
Toggs revealed that when they first conceived the idea of starting Parable Church, they were unsure what kind of people would be drawn to their new church.
“When we started dreaming about beginning parable last year, I couldn’t imagine what type of people would gather,” Toggs shared in a social media post. “I would sit & reflect on the tightly-knitted, woven-together community I had only known, all my life, & wrapping my head around the call to create a new space (for those who didn’t have a church home already), was actually, a mind-bender & a half.”
However, after receiving what they felt were divine confirmations, they courageously embarked on their journey without seeking any initial support from others.
To their surprise, God had already been working in the hearts of people, many of whom they had never met before. Parable has attracted individuals from various religious backgrounds, including Catholic, Orthodox, Baptist, Anglican, Seventh-Day-Adventist, and more. The church has also welcomed people who have recently moved to Sydney and those who have been away from church for years.
Pastor Toggs expressed gratitude for the support they have received from their community. “Pete and I have felt truly supported,” she said noting that Peter’s mum who recenltly died found immense joy and comfort from her son’s achievements despite being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the time.
“She continued to live another 12mths & in that time she got to see her son in his “grace-zone”, she shared. “She turned up week by week beeming with pride & joy. This smaller but immensely mighty community rallied around her with care & prayer in a way that has formed a crucial pillar to building Gods house.”
The couple has also experienced the joy of seeing people come to faith in Jesus Christ. They have been able to gift new believers with Bibles and have focused on building strong disciples.
