Sarah Jakes Listed On Time100 List Of Future Leaders:

A well-known preacher and conference speaker named Sarah Jakes Roberts is on the Time 100 Next list of rising leaders.

Sarah Jakes Roberts, 35, was given the honor by Time magazine on Friday while she was in charge of a conference that attracted 40,000 women to Globe Life Field in the Dallas suburb of Arlington. Her father, Bishop T.D. Jakes, ended his Woman, Thou Art Loosed conferences last year after more than 25 years of running them. This was followed by the Woman Evolve conference.

After having her first child at age 13, Jakes Roberts’ fame has increased. In a message posted to her Instagram account, she described the honor as “another layer of healing to an old wound” and a “full circle moment”; she has subsequently started a podcast and book club.

She stated, “My dad appeared on the Time Magazine cover in 2001.” ” A year later, I was America’s next Billy Graham, a pregnant teenage girl. I wanted to disappear. Thus, I did. I ran away in dread, depression, shame, and suffering. I didn’t grip onto a glimmer of light because I wanted to create a ministry or inspire others. I merely wanted to think that I could find recovery.

Tyler Perry, in the Time 100 Next tribute to Jakes Roberts, wrote, “When your father is T.D. Jakes and you follow his footsteps into the world of ministry, there’s a lot of pressure to find your own voice.”
