T.D. Jakes Foundation Awards $1.5 Million Grant to Jackie Robinson Foundation
The T.D. Jakes Foundation, led by Bishop T.D. Jakes, founder of The Potter’s House Church, has partnered with Wells Fargo to donate a significant $1.5 million impact grant to the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
This latest contribution adds to a series of impactful grants recently distributed by the T.D. Jakes Foundation. The donation was announced in an Instagram post on Thursday by the T.D. Jakes Foundation.
The post celebrated Jackie Robinson’s lasting legacy as the first Black Major League Baseball player of the modern age and the work of the Jackie Robinson Foundation to carry on his legacy of equality by providing underprivileged college students with leadership development and scholarship opportunities.
“In April of 1947, when Jackie Robinson started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers, he forever changed professional sports,” the T.D. Jakes Foundation wrote in the post. “Today, this icon’s influence has transcended sports to affect other fields like business and education while continuing the push toward a more equitable society for us all.”
The Jackie Robinson Foundation is lauded for its premier scholarship and leadership programs, providing opportunities for underserved college students. The T.D. Jakes Foundation and Wells Fargo’s contribution will directly support these endeavors.

These grants included $250,000 each to the Sola Foundation and The Dec Network, both dedicated to addressing specific community challenges. Recognizing the importance of cultural preservation, they also provided $25,000 each to Greenwood Rising and the Greenwood Cultural Center.
Further demonstrating their commitment to strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), they awarded a $150,000 grant to Wiley College. Their most recent donation before the Jackie Robinson Foundation grant was a $1 million contribution to the Milken Institute.
The T.D. Jakes Foundation continues to be a leading force in supporting organizations that empower communities, promote educational opportunities, and celebrate cultural heritage.
