Pastors Toure & Sarah Jakes Roberts celebrated their 7th marriage anniversary in a very special way. Apart from the celebrations before God and at home, Sarah took to Instagram to post a lovely picture of both of them and wrote:
“Marriage is a mirror they say. It illuminates your sharp edges they say.
Well here are mine…I was so concerned that he’d see a character flaw and take his love away. I came into marriage with a scarcity mindset because I wasn’t sure there would be enough love for the ways my trauma had changed me nor patience for God to change me.
We married because we loved each other. Then we learned why people say in marriage you need more than love.
It took a minute for us to stop trying to tweak the small things that we didn’t understand about one another. In the beginning it feels like those small things are powerful enough to dilute the love.
When we dared to let the small things exist in the presence of the great things that made us say, “I do” in the first place – we went from lovers to friends.
That love engulfed the small things and grew us into people who weren’t looking to compromise on our wish list, but rather accept one another quirks and all.
He’s my friend. My king. He’s the homie. He’s my partner and I’m mos’ definitely gonna ride for mines till the day I’m out. Seven years down and an eternity to go. Happy Anniversary @toureroberts ❤️”

“It’s amazing how I can access, with crystal clarity, what was in my head seven years ago today.
I knew that what I had found in you had been fashioned in Heaven with precise detail and specificity.
I had found my person, and all of the resources in the universe had conspired to ensure that what God saw when he formed Touré and Sarah would be realized.
So much has been added to us since our union began as we sought the Kingdom — incredible things, yet in the midst of all of that, what has remained the same is my awe!
I’m in awe of YOU baby — still.
I’m in awe of God’s brilliance in bringing us together — still, and I’m in awe of what God has in store for us in the days, years and the couple of forevers that yet remain.
