124 Student Get Baptized At Texas A&M Corpus Christi Worship: During a recent revival on the Texas A&M University campus in Corpus Christi, it was reported that more than 120 persons were baptized; this event led to a subsequent rise in the number of young adults attending church groups.

Youth Group at New Life Church According to pastor Tarik Whitmore, whose church has a student group on campus called New Life Young Adults, their ministry outreach to Texas A&M started in 2015 and their influence on the university has “gradually increased over time.”

On August 31, “One Night,” a yearly gathering hosted in the region for the previous eight years and on campus for the previous two, was held on campus. New Life Church of Corpus Christi assisted in planning this event.

Whitmore the youth pastor claimed that this year’s One Night event attracted more than 1,000 participants  and 124 baptisms, compared to about 600 visitors and 51 baptisms last year.

“From the very beginning of worship, it was clear that something significant was happening because it was just, it was so powerful,” White said, noting that the gathering included “faces [we’ve] never seen [in church] before” who were “lifting up the name of Jesus.”

“For young people, it’s one thing for them to do that in a comfortable, familiar context like the Sunday morning; it’s another thing for them to do that at their college outdoors in front of their peers.”

Pastor Whitmore was amazed by how much interest there was for One Night. In the days leading up to the event, when he and other NLYA members spread the word.

“They already knew about it, they were already excited, they already ready to jump in,” he said.
