Chrystal Evans Hurst: Four Ways To Find Rest

Chrystal Evans Hurst: Four Ways To Find Rest: In today’s episode, Chrystal Evans Hurst teaches us on how to find rest especially during the holiday season where we often get worn out.

Do you find yourself already tired as you look to the fourth quarter and all that the holidays bring? There are parties to attend, gifts to buy, relationships to navigate and boundaries to set. The pressure can feel immense, but you don’t have to succumb to the stress and chaotic nature that can come with this time of year. Peace can come with intentional practices.

Chrystal on this episode gives us tips on how we can find rest namely:

  1.  Silence: You have to understand  the concept of silence. It is a way to slow down and also to hear from God. That way we can also hear from our body. When we silence ourselves, the brain has room to do its job.
  2. Solitude: Solitude doesn’t mean silence however, it silences everyone else. It means that you know what you want. It enables you to become good friends with you. Solitude allows you to see yourself.
  3. Sabbath: Sabbath is the container for things that bring you rest. Most of us do not know what it means to set aside a day to have leisure. God gave us sabbath and it is our opportunity to recharge.
  4. Space: How you can create space is to carve it out. Rest is not laziness, it is a decision that life will not wear us out. We should learn to rest. Christians should learn that Rest is also a form of worship.
