In a new Jesus Calling podcast, the founding and senior pastor of Fellowship Church, Edwin Barry Young, also known as Ed Young, and his wife Lisa Young share their story of grief and hope following the loss of their first “precious daughter,” LeeBeth.
In the episode of the podcast, which seeks to bring “comfort to those walking the long road of grief,” the couple talked about how they walked through the difficult experience of grief and how God has been with them every step of the way.
“When Lisa and I lost our precious daughter LeeBeth, I knew we would never be the same; that day would change our lives forever. But God has been constantly faithful to us in some of the darkest days we’ve ever known as parents. In that place where grief may fade but never truly leave us completely, the presence of Jesus is a comfort to us daily,” Ed stated in a Thursday Instagram post.
“Lisa and I are on the @JesusCalling Podcast, sharing some words of comfort for those walking the long road of grief,” he added.
Ed noted that the podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, and I Heart Radio.
Ed and Lisa’s daughter, LeeBeth Young, died on January 18, 2021, at the age of 34. At the time, her death was announced by Ed on a January 19 social media post
Speaking about the cause of her untimely death during a Sunday service, Lisa said to the congregation that LeeBeth’s passing was an “out of order death that wasn’t supposed to happen”.
She further explained that LeeBeth’s death was the tragic culmination of a series of events, beginning with her struggle with loneliness and depression. She also entered into a “tumultuous” relationship that ended badly, leading to alcohol abuse and eventually a fatal seizure.
