9 Christian Virtues Every Christian Should Have: For us to be better Christians, there are various virtues that we must have. Having these virtues can help us build our faith in God.
What are Christian virtues? Christian virtues are behaviors of high moral standards, excepted in Christians. As Christians, we are to behave like Jesus Christ.
It is our moral duty as Christians to cultivate and put into practice the qualities that were instilled in us as young people. In addition, we must impart it to our children and descendants. They are our hope for a better future, and we are their role models. With Holy Spirit in our lives we can have the virtues.
- Hope: For us to be better Christians, we have to hope for the best in our lives. The enemy wants us to be hopeless and average. When we are hopeful, we know that God is capable of doing great things in our lives.
- Kindness: We often only show kindness to the people we like and avoid the ones we hate. It’s becoming easier for us to point out people’s shortcomings without even acknowledging what they’ve done. We should be kind and loving to everyone. “A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.” (Proverbs 11:17)
- Faith: Our faith in Christ should be strong; we have to trust God more. Trusting God helps us know that there is nothing impossible for him.
- Love: There are many kinds of love. It is the connecting factor that gives life meaning and sustains humanity. According to St. Paul, love is: Love is patient; love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, and it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4–8
- Honesty: As Christians, we should be honest in everything that we do in life. It shouldn’t amaze us anymore because almost everyone has cheated on someone at some point in their lives. This explains why few acts of honesty make news. For this reason, we reward those who return items to their proper owners.
- Charity: As Christians, we have to care about the people around us. We should always look for a way to help people in need.
- Contentment: With the internet around us, we have to be careful. We have to learn to be happy with what God has given us.Even if you had all the wealth in the world, it wouldn’t make you happy. It won’t help you establish lasting relationships or bring you peace of mind.
The secret to happiness is contentment.
- Humility: God wants us to be humble and never look down on others. Humility is the Christian virtue that is against pride. Where pride destroys relationships, humility heals.
- Patience: We have to learn to be patient with God and our followers. It also helps you develop traits that will prepare you for success. Success is also much sweeter when it is earned through hard work and patient waiting.
