Having respect for one another is really important in a relationship, be it marriage or dating, because everyone is different. You should not expect your partner to have the same ideas or opinions as you.
Partners should be the support system for one another so that both of them can excel in life. Many people believe that supporting their partner is not necessary.
Couples should have the ability to forgive one another because no one is perfect. We all came from different backgrounds and were created differently by God.

As Christians, we have to know that the person we are in a relationship with or married to can affect our growth. Before getting into any relationship, let’s make sure that we are careful.
Being in a relationship with someone who is not goal-oriented can limit your ability to achieve your life goal. Getting married to a partner who doesn’t have the same spiritual goal in life can stop your growth.
Many of us don’t really know that the kind of relationship in which we find ourselves can determine our success. The right partner will help you grow, and you can do the same for them.
Find someone who has the same goals in life or who can help you grow.
- If your goal is to get closer to God and you are married to someone who doesn’t believe in God, that can be challenging.
- Do you have a goal of starting a new business with someone who will motivate you?
- If you are free to be debt-free, being with a partner who overspends won’t help you.
We are not expected to get into relationships with whoever we see. As Christians, we are not to behave like the rest of the world because we are representing God.
Before you get married or are in any relationship, let’s ask God for guidance first. Our heavenly father is interested in everything that we do in life.
God is always talking to us in so many ways because he cares about us. The person that we get married to can help us grow or limit the gifts that God has placed in us.
We can’t change people.
Most times, many of us think that we can change people in life, but the truth is that we can’t. Only the Holy Spirit has the ability to change every single one of us.
Don’t get into relationships with someone who can limit your growth with the idea of changing them. It is not our job to change people; only the spirit of God can do it.
We can pray for them so that their hearts can open to the Holy Spirit and his teaching. Maybe you are already married to someone who is limiting you. Don’t worry, just don’t limit yourself.
We can’t change the people around us, but we can change ourselves. Let’s make it our habit to involve God in everything that we do in life.
As Christians, we are not to get into relationships with whoever we see or even get married to them. We are working for Christ, so we need people who can help us grow and serve God better.
