Football Legend Ronaldo Gets Baptized

Football Legend Ronaldo Gets Baptized: Popular Football star and former Barcelona Striker,  Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima took a significant step in his spiritual journey last week in Brazil. Ronaldo, who was a key figure in two World Cup victories, got baptized, confirmed and received First Holy Communion at a Catholic church in São Paulo.

The legend also played for Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan, and is a prominent figure in football history. He won the Golden Boot at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He also earned the FIFA’s Player of the Year title three times. However, he retired from professional football in 2011 at the age of 34.

The very excited Ronaldo, took to Social Media to share his joy in an announcement with the caption  “very special day.”

According to Ronaldo “The Christian faith has always been a fundamental part of my life, since childhood, even though I had not yet been baptized,” he wrote in Portuguese on Instagram, along with several photos of the ceremony.

He also stated that “With the sacrament, I feel truly regenerated as a ch ild of God — in a new, more conscious, deeper way. I renew my commitment to follow the path of good, of my own free will, believing in the love of Jesus, in supportive love.”

Ronaldo’s baptism was before his 47th birthday at the Church of Sao Jose. He also received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion on the same day in a ceremony by Padre Fábio de Melo.
