Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joel Osteen at the Lakewood Church Sunday Service titled, “Choosing a good mood.”
Pastor Joel teaches us in this message, telling us that God created us as emotional beings. We can feel things like joy, excitement, and passion, and at the same time we can feel sadness, pain, and discouragement. Pastor Joel tells us that we have to know that feelings don’t always tell us the truth and are not facts. We have to learn how to control our feelings and not let them control our mood. We can’t stop feelings from coming, but we can let them not control us or our lives.
When we wake up in the morning and are not feeling great, are we going to dwell on it? We have to understand that we are to control our feelings, not let them control us. When we wake up and are not feeling great, we can change that by thanking God for all he has done for us. We have to remember the goodness of God in our lives, knowing that God has all kinds of victories in store for us. We don’t have to let the feelings come, but we have to fill our minds with the right thoughts, and then the feelings will follow the thoughts.
This is what King David did; he had a lot of trouble, people were against him, and his own son was trying to take the throne. It must have been hard for him, and he must be feeling discouragement, anger, and pain. When David wakes us in the morning in Psalm 118:24, he says, “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” David was not just being positive; he was telling his feelings, “You’re not going to rule me.” We have to know that our feelings are not real, and we should not allow our bad feelings to change our mood.
We can only overcome our bad feelings with the help of the Holy Spirit. We have to make a decision to be in charge of our feelings and choose to be in a good mood. We can be in a good mood when we remember and know that God is faithful and that he has great things in store for us.
