Joel Osteen: Who’s In Your Ear?

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joel Osteen titled, “Who’s in Your Ear?”

Pastor Joel teaches us in this message that it is so important who we are taking advice from. We all have people who influence us, but the question is, are they the right people? We should not listen to everyone’s advice; we should consider their track record, where they are in life, and whether they are making the right decisions and honoring God. If we listen to the wrong voices, we are going to make the wrong choices, and they are not moving you towards your destiny. The wrong voices can keep you from reaching your full potential; pay attention to who you seek advice from.

Some people have options for everything; they are quick to tell you how to run your own life while they can’t run their own. giving you relationship advice or financial advice when they are living in debt. Before you take the advice, consider the source. Do they have credibility? Do they have good character? Are they people of excellence? When taking advice, you have to be selective and weigh every suggestion and every piece of advice against what you feel in your spirit. God will not speak to other people about your life without speaking to you; you can hear from God so you don’t have to run to everyone for advice and direction.

In the Bible, it says if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God, and you will know the right decision. The more you ask God for advice and direction, the less you have to depend on people. People can miss it because sometimes they don’t know the right thing, and they will give advice that is not the best. God is always trying to give us the best advice and direction, but we have to learn how to hear from him. In the Old Testament, God spoke to people through the prophets when they needed advice and direction. They were depending on certain people, but when Jesus died, we got a better covenant. In this new covenant, we don’t have to go to people to hear what God says; the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of us. The Holy Spirit is our adviser, and he will always help us make good choices. God is always speaking to us, but we are busy listening to other people.
