Here is a message from Joyce Meyer, which is titled, “Jealous and Judgmental Attitudes (Part 2).” The text for the message is from Galatians 5:13: “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.”
Pastor Joyce tells us that we are to be free from the law and the old covenant. Our relationship with God is not about all the things we can’t do. Jesus has done everything for us, so we are free, but don’t use your freedom to indulge the flesh. Rather serve one another humbly in love, for the entire law is fulfilled in keeping the commandment of loving our neighbor as we love ourselves. If we devour each other, watch out; we will be destroyed by one another.
Strife actually has the power to kill a church, a marriage, and relationships between siblings and friends. Keeping strife out of your life and staying in peace is important, and we have to know that peace is powerful. Strife kills and destroys, and we have to be afraid of strife. It’s better we humble ourselves and do what we have to do in order to get rid of the strife.
Proverb 16:28 “A perverse person stirs up conflict, and gossip separates close friends.” We should be good at forgiveness and forgive quickly. God loves it when we forgive and don’t lose our peace. Strife grieves the Holy Spirit. When we have strife, we don’t lose the Holy Spirit, but we lose the sense of the Holy Spirit and his presence. We have to be peaceful in order to hear from the Holy Spirit, and when we grieve the Holy Spirit, we’re going to feel grieved because he lives inside of us.
We have a brand on us that says that we belong to God, and no one can see it but the Devil does. The Devil knows that we belong to God. You’re free to think what you want, but you’re not free to judge people who do things you don’t like.
