Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joyce Meyer titled “Pride and Humility—Part 1.”
Pastor Joyce teaches us in this message that the Bible says that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. We have to learn how to overcome our proud attitude so that we can have the grace to live a better life. Our attitude as Christians is expected to be different from others because we are representing God here on earth. We are to be humble enough so that we can do the work that God wants us to do. We have to learn how to have a good attitude no matter the circumstances in life. Most of us have the wrong idea about humility; we think it means “to just let people walk all over you,” but that’s not what it means.
We have to know and understand that humility is the hardest of all the virtues to gain and maintain because we all want to be first, to be noticed, and to be important. We can be all those things (first, noticed, and important), but it has to be in Christ, not in ourselves. We can be self-made and last long, but you won’t be happy at it. God can do anything with anybody, but humility is a large part of it.
Pastor Joyce said that she had a problem with pride because she was insecure, and people who are insecure want to feel important. Maybe some of us grow up feeling that we’re not enough, but we have to know that we are perfect in Christ Jesus. We have to get rid of the proud attitude because God really can only use humble people. It’s the humble people that get help. The Bible says, “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
