Joyce Meyer: Psalm 23 (Part 3)

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joyce Meyer titled Psalm 23 (part 3). God uses the analogies in the Bible about Jesus being our good shepherd and us being the sheep because there are lessons we can learn from studying a shepherd’s relationship to his sheep.

When a sheep is cast down, predators move in; for the sheep, it’s buzzards, vultures, dogs, coyotes, and cougars; and for us, our predator is the devil. He moves in because a sheep that is cast down, depressed, discouraged, downtrodden, sad, and has lost their joy is easy prey for the enemy; the devil does everything he can to keep us sad and mad, but God wants us to be glad because our joy is found in strength.

We need to take every opportunity that we can to giggle, laugh, and smile. Let’s stop being sad about everything that’s going on in our lives that we don’t like and find reasons to laugh. There is nothing better than having joy.

Jesus has a special concern for those who are cast down in life, and he always helps them stand up again. Many of you lost someone or your job. You are depressed. Jesus has his eyes on you. He wants you to be happy again.

We have to be like Jesus and go around doing good. While we are waiting and asking God what our ministry is, why don’t we pick up the ministry of encouragement and gladness? There’s no excuse for us to sit around bored and miserable.

When you wake up in the morning and you don’t feel so good, don’t sit around and talk about how bad we feel all day; we have to get up, go somewhere, find something worth doing, and we’ll be surprised to start feeling better. When we’re weak, instead of rebuke and rejection, the shepherd gives special care to the weaker sheep in the flock.
