Joyce Meyer has given us another episode of “Enjoying Everyday Life,” titled “Why Is It Hard to Finish What You Start?” Part 1.
Pastor Joyce teaches us in this message about not being able to achieve or finish what we start. Anytime you want to do good, you might as well just figure that opposition is going to come. Just because we decide to do something good doesn’t mean the enemy is going to roll out a red carpet and say, Oh goody, let me help you. Pastor Joyce tells us about her experience: “Something happened to me, and I shouldn’t know better after all the years that I’ve been in Ministry and all the teaching I’ve done, but this will just prove how we can be deceived by the enemy. She said, “I wrote down in my journal that I keep pretty much every day that I was making a commitment to be more generous than ever before in my life, and actually I really do enjoy giving; it’s one of the things that I enjoy. I really enjoy making people happy. I enjoy maybe knowing something that somebody wants and then surprising them with it. I’ve kind of been like that since I was a kid, and so I just believe it’s one of the gifts that God has given me, and so I just decided I wanted to be more generous this year than I’ve ever been before in my life, and I got off to a good start. I wrote down all kinds of scriptures about giving and all kinds of thoughts. As a matter of fact, I’ll just right here say that this was my commitment. I am reaffirming my commitment to God to be generous and to help as many people as I possibly can. The world is filled with hurting and needy people, and nothing is better or more powerful than helping them. But the reason it is hard for us to finish what we started is because the enemy does not want us to see the great work that God will do in our lives. After making a commitment, you know, we tend to get busy with something else and kind of forget about it. That is one of the ways that the enemy makes us not keep up with our commitment.
