Theme For Open Heavens Devotional January 30 2021 – DO GOOD

MEMORY VERSE :

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9

BIBLE READING: Romans 2:6-10

6• Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7• To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8• But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9• Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10• But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

MESSAGE

A. Good people are wise people.
1• They understand that being good to others will endear them to God, so they keep doing good.
2• Also, they know that according to Proverbs 11:17, when you show mercy to others, you are actually being good to yourself, and when you are cruel to them, you are also being cruel to yourself It is very simple:
3• Proverbs 11:17 “The merciful man does good for his own soul, But he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.”
4• You cannot deceive God whatever you sow is what you will reap
5• Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
6• Our God is a good God. He is good even to people who do evil.
7• Matthew 5:45 “ That you may be sons of your Father in Heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.), so if you want to be good, learn from Him.
8• David said in Psalm11 9:68: “Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.”

B• One of the ways through which God helps us to do good is by Anointing us.
1• Jesus in Acts 10:38 began to do good things because of this Anointing:
2• “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Ghost and with Power: Who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him.”
3• The moment you are empowered to do something good for someone and you do not do it, you are asking for the wrath of God to come upon you because it is a waste of His Anointing.
4• Proverbs 3:27 says “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is the power of thine hand to do it”
5• This is why whenever I see someone who needs prayers and my protocol officers are blocking the person from reaching me, I intervene and ask them to bring the fellow.
6• I don ‘t want to annoy My Daddy by withholding what know He has given me for the benefit of others.
7• Do you know that on the last day, we will be judged also based on how good we have been to others!
Matthew 25:3l-46)?

C• Matthew 25:31-46: The Son Of Man Will Judge The Nations:
1• “When The Son of Man comes in His Glory, and all The Holy Angels with Him, then He will sit on The Throne of His Glory. 2• All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
3• And He will set the sheep on His Right Hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His Right Hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit The kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
4• For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
5• “Then The Righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
6• And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
7• “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
8• For I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
9• “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’
10• Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

D. 3 John 1:11 Says “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God..”
1• In other words, if you are truly a child of God as you claim, you must always do good.
2• Have you been doing good?
3• You Need The Presence Of God The HOLY SPIRIT And HIS POWER To Be Good And To Do Good!

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Galatians 4-6
AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE
HYMN: O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST.
1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.
3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
4. Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
“Return, ye sons of men”:
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.
5. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
6. The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in foll’wing years.
7. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the op’ning day.
8. Like flow’ry fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flow’rs beneath the mower’s hand
Lie with’ring ere ’tis night.
9. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.
