We bring to you today’s message from Pastor Jentezen Franklin. This powerful message is one which is titled, “You Can Be A Hero.” The text for the message is from John 19:39–40, which tells the story of how Joseph of Arimathea helped to bury Jesus’ body.
Speaking from the scripture text, Pastor Franklin talked about the man who had come at night to bury Jesus. He had shown up at night to get the lifeless body of Jesus, and he was able to gain an audience with Jesus because of his prestige.
The rich man had come to see Jesus when Jesus had nothing to offer him. He was a hero because he had come in the night when the crowds had all dispersed; he came at the moment when Jesus was vulnerable. It was a time when Christ needed all the assistance he could get. This is a man who decided to step out and show up with what God had blessed him with.
He talked about how important this man’s actions were because, had he not buried the body of Jesus in the tomb, the resurrection story would have been messed up. The gospel is no good without the resurrection story.
God wants to transform us from consumers to contributors, from getting a blessing to being a blessing. Joseph of Arimathea rendered a simple service to Jesus Christ rooted in faith. He added that if we have not learned anything, we should learn that it is our personal relationship outside the crowds with Jesus Christ that will matter.
This is a message that will inspire you.
