Career
In 2005, Morgan signed with Rocketown Records and released his debut album, featuring cover versions of Hillsong songs. He became Hillsong’s new worship pastor in 2008, succeeding Darlene Zschech. Morgan led Hillsong’s 2010 tour in the US.
Morgan has toured extensively, including a 2007 European tour. His 2006 album, Everyone, features his interpretation of Hillsong songs and was released in Australia, excluding congregational elements found in Hillsong Live albums.
In addition, Morgan contributed to Hillsong’s live praise and worship albums with “I Give You My Heart,” featured on God is in the House. He later recorded his own version for his solo album, World Through Your Eyes.
Morgan appeared on Hillsong’s All Things are Possible live album, playing acoustic guitar and contributing three original compositions. He co-lead vocals on “Shadow of Your Wings” with Darlene Zschech. Morgan also contributed to songwriting on “In Your Hands” and “Your Love” with Rob Eastwood and Donia Makedonez.
Morgan became a prolific songwriter for Hillsong, contributing to four live albums and acoustic guitars. His first vocal credit was on For This Cause, and “Most High” was his first lead vocal on Blessed.
The song “Mighty to Save”, from the 2006 Hillsong album of the same name, was written by Morgan and Ben Fielding, with lead vocals performed by Morgan. It was nominated for “Song of the Year” and won “Worship Song of the Year” at the 40th GMA Dove Awards.
Prior to this he was a worship pastor at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. He has written songs such as “Eagles Wings”, “Hear Our Praises”, “I Give You My Heart”, “My Redeemer Lives” and “Mighty to Save”, which won the Worship Song of the Year at the 40th GMA Dove Awards. In 2005 his first solo worship album, World Through Your Eyes, debuted at No. 3 in the Australian Christian Charts.
