Rev. Dr. Marcus Cosby is an American preacher, evangelist, author and speaker. He is the senior pastor of the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston Texas.

Dr. Marcus D. Cosby is the third child born to the late Mr. Rogers Cosby and Mrs. Bobbie J. Cosby. He is a proud native of Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Cosby has been actively involved in church work since he was a young child. The Reverend Dr. L.K. Curry, Pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois, granted him a license to preach and ordained him to the Christian Ministry.
Today, he is the senior pastor of Wheeler Baptist Church. He has lectured, preached and taught in numerous and varied settings, including conferences, conventions, retreats, revivals and on university and seminary campuses.

Dr. Marcus Cosby received his elementary education at the Emmanuel Christian School and secondary education at Whitney M .Young Magnet High School.

He also also has a Master of Divinity in Homiletics and Christian Education from the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Rev. Dr. Cosby is married to his high school sweetheart, Mrs. Audrey Marie Cosby. God blessed the couple with three beautiful daughters, Adrienne Marie, Ashley Marie and Aliyah Marie and two sons, Marcus D., II and Matthew D. Cosby.
Ministry
Currently, Rev. Cosby serves as the Senior Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He was chosen as the successor to the Founding Pastor of Wheeler Avenue, Dr. William A. Lawson in 2004, having served as Associate Pastor since 1998.
Today, the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church have four Sunday worship services, and more than 15,000 members. The church founded the Wheeler Avenue Christian Academy, which serves kids from pre-kindergarten through second grade.
In Houston’s Third Ward, Rev. Dr. Cosby also created a transitional housing center for single homeless moms. He has also developed a missional outreach in several South African villages and has love for positively influencing the lives of the abandoned and forgotten wherever they may be found.
Career
Dr. Cosby is a trustee on the board of his alma mater, Fisk University, where he chairs the committee for academic excellence and student engagement. He is also a member of the university’s general alumni association.
He has also served as a member of the advisory board for The Gardner C. Taylor Preaching Archives and Listening Room in Atlanta, Georgia, the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, the Houston Area Urban League, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, the Texas Commission for Community Service and Volunteerism, and the African American Pulpit.
Rev. Dr. Cosby is an active member of the NAACP, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He also works as an adjunct professor of homiletics at the Houston Graduate School of Theology and has previously taught the subject at the ITC’s Houston extension program in addition to teaching the more than 100 ministers who make up the Clergy Team of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
Dr. Cosby was admitted in 2008 to Morehouse College’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers in Atlanta, Georgia. Also, he became the founder and CEO of Preaching with Power and Authority Ministries in 2013, a company dedicated to the teaching and promotion of contemporary, biblical preaching for the twenty-first century.
