Robert Morris bags Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from East Texas Baptist University. The obviously thrilled Gateway Church senior pastor took to Instagram on Saturday to announce his most recently acquired degree.
Sharing several photos in his graduation gown as well as the conferred award, Morris said it was an honor to have bagged the degree.
“This morning, I was honored to receive an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from East Texas Baptist University (ETBU),” he wrote. He went on to make known that he and his wife started their ministry journey from the School. “This is where Debbie and I began our college studies and where God first started the foundation I am still standing on today,” he wrote.
Morris further expressed gratitude to Blair Blackburn, the 13th president of East Texas Baptist University, who has served since 2015. Morris also congratulated other graduates. “Thank you to Dr. Blair Blackburn for this incredible distinction,” he wrote, “and congratulations to all the graduates today,” he added.
Robert Morris concluded by sharing an inspiring portion of the bible “Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” – Proverbs 3:6″ he wrote.
In 2000, Morris began the multicampus Gateway church based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It has grown to over 100,000 active members. The 61-year-old has made significant contributions in his theological pursuit, hence, his bagging of the Honorary Doctorate of Divinity. Robert has been married to Debbie since 1980. Their marriage is blessed with three married children and nine grandchildren.
