Today we bring you a fresh excerpt from Sarah Jakes Roberts, which is titled “How to Prepare for the New.” In this message, Pastor Sarah preaches that “if we’re going to go after all that God has for us, we have to get stronger.” And whether it’s breaking family cycles or making big God ideas come true, environmentalists can’t do it alone.
Speaking on influence and confluence, she pointed out that confluence is more important than influence. She defined “confluence” as when two things (particularly a river) come together to form a greater current or force. The reality is that some of us want influence before convergence, and this has led to many becoming frustrated with what they have been called to do.
According to Pastor Sarah, “confluence marriage” is not one person influencing but two people coming together with an idea that makes the other stronger as a result of being paired together. In the Bible, Elijah and Elisha represent a confluence. They were two separate entities, but when Elijah threw his mantle on Elisha, they became one channel.
On how convergences work, she said that for us to merge into one single flow, one thing that must happen is the end of the original flow. For us to become stronger and flow in the way that God wants us to, we have to accept that the original flow will have to come to an end. We have to be willing to let go of something so that we can become stronger.
She went on to teach that the end of a flow is as challenging as creating the flow in the first place. Just like before Elijah got caught up in heaven, he tried to disconnect from Elisha because, as he was ending his original flow and becoming a stronger flow, he could not place where Elisha fit.
Many men of God find themselves in the same situation; however, there are going to be people in our lives at that moment that, even if we do not know where they fit, we are going to be vulnerable enough to let them come through for us.
This is a message that you will love.
