Tauren and Lorna Wells Officially Launch the Church of Whitestone
Nearly one year after their official announcement of planting a new church, the multiple award-winning Christian artist Tauren Wells and his wife Lorna Wells officially brought their long-held vision to life with the official launch of the Church of Whitestone.
The couple celebrated the church’s official launch on January 28, welcoming 3,500 friends to its inaugural service. The new church, located in Texas, aims to help people discover their “God-authored identity” through a wholehearted relationship with Jesus.
“Today, we officially launched Church of Whitestone with 3,500 friends,” Wells announced in a Monday Instagram post. “We’re embarking on an incredible journey to help people discover their God-authored identity through whole-hearted relationship with Jesus, and today was just the beginning.”
The launch service featured uplifting music, an inspiring message, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The new lead pastors have also expressed their gratitude to all who contributed to the preparation of the church launch as well as those who attended the kickoff event.
“Thank you to all of our teams who have worked tirelessly to prepare for today,” the Instagram statement read. “And thank you to all those who joined us for an epic kick-off!.”
The Couple plans to continue holding weekly services, as well as offering a variety of programs throughout the week. They invite everyone in the community to join them as they seek to build a vibrant and growing church family.
In April 2023, the couple announced their plans to plant a new church, a dream they had held for “more than 10 years ago”.
“Oh my goodness, I can’t believe I’m saying this out loud but in 2024 Lorna and I and our four amazing boys will be planting a brand new life-changing, life-giving church,” Tauren enthusiastically revealed in a video.
The couple however explained at the time that the church name was inspired by Revelation 2:17. “God gave me this verse Revelation 2:17, To the one who overcomes, he will give a white stone with a name engraved on it that only they know,” Tauren said.
Before launching the Church of Whitestone Tauren served as a staff at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston since 2018. He features in various Lakewood services during the week. Now, he embarks on this new chapter, leading his congregation alongside his wife Lorna.
