Our world is full of idolatry. Idols of false gods, idols are any noun, person, place, thing of thought that you look to outside of God to meet your needs. They can be crude idols trees, animals, all sophisticated idols; american idols, education, image, materialism , and a plethora of other things. Because it’s any noun, person, place , thing or thought that you’re looking to to illegitimately meet your needs.
What God wants us to do with idols, he wants us to destroy them not placate them. He doesn’t want idols put beside him like they’re twins in the kingdom. No room for idolatry. Everything in your life is to come underneath him not be competing with him.
What is your idol? We all have challenge with them. They can be so subtle and yet we find the God of the bible being pushed aside to make room for this other thing that we hold dear. Because we believe our job is our source, we believe other people are our source. We believe the solutions are going to come be because of influencing or influencers in our lives and we turn those things into idols and god is repulsed by idolatry.
The bible declares that the wrath of God comes on men because they have turned the creature, and made it compete with the creator. Identify your idols get rid of them because then God can return to you and be the God that he wants to be in your life. Because, he’s no longer competing, he no longer has to deal with all these other gods. When he shows up he calls them false lovers.
We have too many lovers in our lives, too many gods to whom we are committed. Get rid of the idols, so that we can have the one true god operating on our behalf and reversing the consequences in our lives.
