Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joyce Meyer titled “Pride and Humility—Part 2.” The text for the message is from Obadiah 1:3. “says the pride of your heart has deceived you.”
Pastor Joyce continued with her message about pride and humility. We have to understand that humility is about having so much power and having it under control. Being humble is not being weak. God blesses the humble because he does not like people who have so much pride. We have to learn the importance of having a good attitude no matter the circumstances in our lives. Pride does save us. Pride distorts our perception, and we don’t see things as they truly are, and we don’t see other people’s value. Who are you willing to give your attention to and listen to, and who do you ignore? Jesus always went for the lowly and the hurting.
It’s sad in our churches sometimes because we get our little groupies. When you go to church, you ought to look for somebody that looks lonely or hurting, or somebody by themselves, and say, Hey, you want to come sit with us? Let’s get ourselves off our minds for a few minutes and think of somebody else and be kind to them.
People who are full of pride are sinfully competitive; they want to impress people. We are never free until we no longer have to impress anybody. We’ll never really fully listen to God until we realize we don’t have to impress people. We try to impress people with the clothes and jewelry we wear, the kind of car we drive, the furniture we own, the house we live in,the place you work, and how much education you have.
