Pastor Joyce teaches us in this message that sometimes following God means confronting a problem you’d rather forget. If you run from God, God will prepare something to swallow you up. God will prepare some kind of circumstance if you are not going to like it because he wants to stop you from running from him. Abram had a promise from God that he was going to have a child. The only problem was that Sarah and Abram were both way too old to have children. It was not humanly possible without a miracle, and so they were tired of waiting, like most of us are. If you’re not careful, when you get tired of waiting, you start coming up with bright ideas and back-up plans that God does not approve of. We have to learn how to trust God deeply and with our whole hearts. We think, “Well, God’s not doing nothing, so I know what I’ll do,” which gets us in so much trouble. Most times we have to deal with things that seem unfair in human eyes, but God has a great plan behind the bad situation. We’ve got to live a little deeper if we want to have God’s plan in our lives.
If we wait on God, he will make things beautiful in his own time. If we get ahead of God and start our own thing, we just fool around all our lives with some little sick silly thing because we don’t want to wait on God’s genuine thing to come through for us.
