Kari Brooke Jobe was born in 1981 to Mark and Caroline “Sandy” (née Bragg) Jobe in Waco, Texas. She grew up in the Fort Worth suburbs of Watauga and Hurst, Texas. Kristen and Caleb are her two siblings. At the age of three, Jobe started singing, and at the age of five, he converted to Christianity. 2009’s chart-topping singles “Revelation Song” and “Holy Spirit” helped her gain recognition.

Jobe attended Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, for six years before she received an offer to work there as associate worship pastor after she received her degree from the university. She collaborated with her father, Mark, who oversees the Southlake campus of Gateway as its campus pastor. She has also led worship on mission missions across the globe.

Additionally, Jobe belonged to the Christian worship group Gateway Worship, which is connected to Gateway Church. Wake Up the World, the group’s live CD, debuted at No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart of Billboard in 2008.

On the Integrity Music/Columbia Records/Gateway Create label, Jobe recorded her first major-label album in February 2009 in addition to serving as a worship leader and pastor.

Jobe earned degrees in pastoral studies and psychology from Oral Roberts University, Christ for the Nations Institute, and Dallas Baptist University.

Career

On February 10, 2009, Jobe released her self-titled debut album. The album peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard 200 and No. 3 on the Christian music list of the same publication. Le Canto was the name of the album’s Spanish-language release. At the 41st GMA Dove Awards, the album “Le Canto” took home a Dove Award for Spanish Album of the Year. Prior to the publication of Kari Jobe, Jobe had already published Bethlehem, a holiday album, Throneroom Worship: Live Acoustic Worship, and a compilation album called Kari Jobe.

I’m Singing” from her self-titled album debuted at No. 13 on Billboard’s Christian songs chart. “Healer,” Jobe’s second single, appeared on Billboard’s Soft A/C chart at No. 33 in 2009.

She recorded the song “Adore Him” in 2009, and it was included on the compilation album “Worship and Adore: A Christmas Offering” by Integrity Music.

She was nominated for New Artist of the Year and won two Dove Awards for Special Event Album of the Year and Spanish Language Album. Jobe joined EMI CMG Sparrow Records in 2011.

On January 24, 2012, Jobe released “Where I Find You“, her second studio album. Donde Te Encuentro, Kari’s second album, Where I Find You, was released on January 24, 2012 in Spanish. The album made its chart debut at No. 6 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart and No. 19 on its tally of the Top Latin Albums.

Later that year, Jobe released her debut EP, The Acoustic Sessions (Live). Jobe also won her first Grammy nomination in 2012 for “Where I Find You” in the category of Best Contemporary Christian Album.

Along with Sheila Walsh and writer Lisa Harper, Jobe participated in season two of GSN’s The American Bible Challenge in May 2013. The A21 Campaign, an anti-trafficking group with a goal to end slavery, served as their chosen charity.

Her live worship album “Majestic” was released on March 25, 2014, and its lead track “Forever” was released on February 18.  “Majestic Revisited” was released on September 25, 2015. Songs from Majestic that were rerecorded in the studio and in a different style are included on the CD.

On November 4, 2016, “The Cause of Christ,” the lead single from her fourth studio album, was made available. Before the album’s release on February 3, 2017, three additional singles, “Heal Our Land,” “Fall Afresh,” and “The Garden,” were made available.

Family Life

Jobe announced her engagement to fellow Gateway Worship musician Cody Carnes on Instagram in August 2014. The couple tied the knot on November 21, 2014.

2015 Dove Awards red carpet host Jobe revealed she and her husband were expecting a boy. Jobe and her husband made the news of their second child’s impending birth in June 2018. The baby was delivered on February 1st, 2019.
