Sandra Ellen McCollom Biography
She was born in Missouri in the United States of America to her parents, Joyce and David Meyer. She was born on 8th October 1969. Sandra grew up with her three siblings; Laurie Marie Holtzman, David Meyer and Daniel Meyer.
Sandra said that she became a Christian at the age of 8. However, she admitted that she trapped herself in legalism in a an effort to please God. She grew up with the legalism ideology and trapped her family under it as well.
Currently she owns a blog called Freedom Living Ministries. The blog is all about her personal journey of grace and how the gospel of grace that Paul preached intertwines into every part of our lives and changes us.
Family Life
Sandra is married to Steve McCollom. The couple have been married for more than 20 years. They got married in 1991. God blessed their marriage with twin girls; Starr and Angel. The couple are currently in full-time ministry.
The family lives in St. Louis area, Missouri.
Ministry
McCollom is a pastor at her home church , Living Word Church. Growing up as a minister’s child did not make her have an easy relationship with God. She talked about how she practiced legalism in an effort to please God.
According to her “At the base of my legalism were many misconceptions I had about God that resulted in my never feeling like I could measure up to His expectations. I turned almost everything into a rule and lived each day by a very long, unrealistic list that nobody could have kept. My life was filled with anxiety, frustration and stress.
In December of 2011 I finally came to the end of my rope as Paul said in Romans 7:24. I prayed a prayer of desperation that day. I said, “God, I can’t live like this anymore, I need serious help.”
About one week later on January 2nd, 2012, God stepped into my life in a powerful way. During my devotional time with Him that morning He swept over me with a wave of His unconditional love that changed me forever. I know now that I am God’s daughter and see Him for the loving heavenly Father that He is.
That day I started a journey of grace that has transformed my life, my marriage, my parenting, my friendships and my list! I am so thankful to God for the heart revelation of His grace and will never stop thanking Him for what He has done for me!”.
