Touré Roberts Celebrates His Mother’s 74th Birthday: Bestselling author and founder on One Church pastor Touré Robert has taken to social media today to celebrate his mother’s 74th birthday with a heartfelt message.
“Without her, there is no me,” Robert wrote in the caption of a beautiful photo of him and his mother that he shared on his Instagram page. “Not simply because she carried me into being, but moreover she prayed me into seeing.”
Robert went on to praise his mother for her unwavering faith in him, even when times were tough. “She stood on the Word concerning my life and declared that I would not only survive the often treacherous terrain of Watts, but that I would thrive in whatever I set my heart and hands to,” he wrote.
The 51-year-old pastor also expressed gratitude to his mother for the sacrifices she made to give him a better life. “She sacrificed greatly to expose me to paradigms and environments that transcended the neighborhood,” he said. “She had a strategy. It was simple: Trust God’s strategy for her boy, pray into it daily, and never stop believing, regardless of circumstance. She knew that the promise would prevail. It did.”
Robert concluded his message by calling his mother his “SHE-ro” and thanking her for everything. “I got my faith from her, my fight from her, my integrity of heart from the example she modeled,” he wrote. “She’s my SHE-ro and today’s her 74th birthday! All, help me celebrate the hidden figure who started it all! Tommye Jean Williams. I love you, Mom.”
