Charles Stanley’s grandson auctions the late pastor’s framed items

Charles Stanley‘s grandson auctions the late pastor’s framed items on eBay, one week following his grandfather’s death.

Matt Brodersen, the youngest child of Dr. Stanley’s daughter, Becky has put on sale by auction, on eBay, a framed portrait signed by the late pastor and a pocket watch engraved with the letters “CFS” standing for “Charles Frazier Stanley.”  “I’m going to put them on eBay and there’s going to be a bid. You can auction to it if you want it,” he said in a YouTube video.

Along with the items on sale are Stanley’s special coins and wristwatches, which would be offered as “bonus gifts” to the highest bidders of the portrait and pocket watch. Brodersen claimed in the video that he found the items on the desk in Stanley’s home office.

Brodersen, consequently has come under heavy criticism from many who his decision apparently didn’t go well with. While many rebuked him for his poor decision, others accused him of being disrespectful and the same time exploiting his influential grandfather’s death. Some nevertheless advised him to keep his grandfather’s items in memory of him.

In response to critics, however, Brodersen said:

“I’m a human being who has bills to pay, and you know how the economy is. So, I don’t really have shame in selling some of his stuff. I’m actually really happy that two of his fans are going to get to have a collection of some of his very personal items that were found in his office and on his desk that were there when he passed away. I think that’s really special or sweet to be able to pass that on. And whoever wins is going to help me pay my bills, which I desperately need right now. I’m not afraid to admit that.”
