Creflo Dollar: The Purpose of Suffering

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Creflo Dollar titled, “The Purpose of Suffering.”

Understanding the trials of faith and answering the question, “Why do believers have to go through suffering? Is suffering something that God actually uses to mature us?” Is suffering God’s doing or the devil’s doing?

When we are confronted with trials that test us and our faith, we must be understanding, not frustrated by our suffering, not afraid of it, but stand up to it and believe that God is God.

1 Peter 1:6-7 “Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now, if need be, you are in heaviness through various temptations, that the trial of your faith, which is much more precious than gold that perishes though tried, may be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”

The trial of your faith is not just testing your faith to see whether you have it or not; the trial of your faith is the purifying of your faith; it is the removing of the impurity of your dependence upon yourself.

The test is to determine whether we rely on God or on ourselves, not on money or education; Satan’s goal is to get us to declare our dependence on God while denying that we need Him.Jesus came to teach us to be completely dependent on God.

Without God, we can’t do anything; the attitude towards God under grace should be complete dependence upon him because we are not under the law. Until we stop boasting and stop giving ourselves credit, there is no us without God; until we understand it can only be us with God, we are not created and designed to exist without God. The whole point of Jesus coming, dying, and shedding his blood is so we can get to a place in our lives where we can depend on God alone.
