Pastor Joel teaches us in this message about activating the right genes in our lives, which means changing our mentality from victim to victor. We all have made mistakes in the past, and it’s easy to dwell on those mindsets. It’s easy to have the wrong image of ourselves, which makes us develop a slave mentality. We have to know that God loves us, and when we pray, we should pray bold prayers. We receive our DNA from our parents; these genes tell us what we are going to look like, like our height and skin color. Not only our physical traits are passed down to our genes, but also our personality, our attitude, and our sense of humor. Both good and bad characteristics are passed down to us; we have to know that we don’t have to dwell on the negative genes in our lives. Scientists have discovered that just because a gene is passed down does not mean it has to be activated; the gene can only be activated by our decisions and the environment. Just because we got the negative traits passed down through our genes does not mean that we have to pass them on to the next generation. We can deactivate the negative genes that have been passed down to us.
Just because your parents suffered from depression does not mean that you are supposed to be depressed. We have to know that God is always with us, and with his help, we can deactivate the negative genes in our lives. We have to focus on activating the right genes so that we can live the better life that God has in store for us. We have to know that the devil is working hard to make sure that we only activate the negative genes and not the positive ones; he wants us to be depressed and suffer from a lot of negative things so that we can’t live the life that God has designed for us to live.
