The text for the message is from James 3:6-7. “And tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, so is the tongue among our members that it defileth the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell.”
In this message, we are taught that tongue and self-control really work together, and we have to make sure that we have self-control. We have to be very careful about what we say with our tongue. From the Bible text, we have to know that the tongue sets on fire the course of nature, and another translation says it sets on fire your whole life. It sets on fire the course of nature, and it says it’s set on fire by hell. When hell is leading your tongue, it’s going to burn everything up. It’s going to set stuff on fire. Therefore, you can say if hell is leading your tongue. What are you saying that you would allow hell to lead your tongue and it would set on fire your entire life? That’s how serious this tongue is now. We have to know how important self-control is in our lives. controlling your mouth Controlling your tongue is one thing we need to learn how to do because if we don’t, hell is going to lead our tongue, and it will burn us. How many times has your mouth gotten you into trouble? Most of us can’t count it because it’s too much. But the thing about it is that if we can’t control the tongue, the Bible says we can control the whole body.
In James 3:2, it says, “It says that in many things we offend all. If any man offends not in Word by using this tongue, the same is a perfect man, and he’s able to also Bridle the whole body.” If you can’t control your tongue so that you’re not offending in word, the Bible says that you are a perfect man and that you’re able to Bridle your whole body. It’s hopeless because all of us mess up with the tongue. All of us say wrong things. All of us have sprouted something out of our mouths in anger, frustration, or just foolishness. The Bible says now that if you can control your tongue, you’re a perfect man, and you’re able to brighten the whole body. When we are able to control our tongue, we can do greater things and control a lot of things.
