Joel Osteen: An Interview with Joel Osteen and Terry Crews

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joel Osteen at the Lakewood Church Sunday Service titled “An Interview with Joel Osteen and Terry Crews.”

Pastor Joel interviews Terry Crews as he shares his experience with us so that we can learn and be better. Mr. Terry was born in 1968 in Michigan, and when he grew up, he knew his hometown to be successful until it wasn’t any more. He said that in the space of 5 years, the town he knew to be successful became a walking dead town, and people started to move away. Drug dealers and gang members started to increase. He said that where he had his most difficult problem was at their house. His Dad was a very abusive man. He said that one of his earliest memories was seeing his parents arguing and seeing his Dad hit his mother; she was knocked out. He said that it was traumatic for him as a young man because he has always wondered what it means to be a real man. He was also afraid to go out in the street because of the drug dealers and gang members beating him up, and when he comes home, he’s more afraid because of his dad’s personality. His dad is an alcoholic, and that is the big problem they have in their family; it was not considered a problem back in the olden days. Mr. Terry said that he also had a problem wetting the bed, and he did it until he was 14 years old because of the stress and the chaotic environment.

He had all this fear inside of him, which made him say that he would be strong; he was going to workout and become an ultraman. He had the thought that he had to be strong because one day he may have to kill his father and put the drug dealers that beat him up in their place by fighting them. He developed revenge; he said that what we have to understand about revenge is that “you can have revenge or success, but we can’t have both.

Mr. Terry is one of the most successful actors in Hollywood, and sharing his past stories is meant to motivate us. We have to know that no matter what our past or background looks like, we can still be successful in our lives. We don’t have to allow revenge to stop us from having success, and our background and past should not hold us back from achieving the goals or dreams that God has put in our hearts.
