Today’s message comes from Pastor Joyce Meyer and is titled, “Get in the Word.” Pastor Joyce tells us that God’s word is powerful, but studying it is the key to utilizing its life-changing principles in our lives. The best thing we could do is download the Bible into our hearts, but that doesn’t work. We don’t study the word for God; God likes it when we study his word, but only because of what it does for us. So many Christians see reading the word of God as an obligation, and we have to know that reading is different from studying. It would be wonderful if we could set aside some time to study God’s word.
It is easy to study the word of God now because everything is now available on the internet. It is important for us to understand that we are doing ourselves a favor when we study because we are learning how to live the life that is going to be the best for us. We have to know that the Holy Spirit is our teacher, and we have to depend on him when we study the word of God to help us understand it. There are things in the Bible that we will never understand, which is why we have the Holy Spirit. We Christians must not let anyone convince us that we cannot understand the word because God will help us.We can also read books about the Bible; there is no excuse for anyone not to study the word of God.
Pastor Joyce lets us know that we can make use of the internet when we don’t understand the word of God. Christians can join a small Bible study group with people they can ask questions. We should start somewhere, or we will end up doing nothing. We have to know that studying the word of God is for our own good.
