Today’s message comes from Pastor Joyce Meyer and is titled “You Are Holy, Be Holy.”In this message, Joyce lets us know that we are made holy by the blood of Jesus; therefore, every child of God is holy. She also says we have a spirit, a soul, and that we live in a body.
Meyer pointed out that there are a lot of great things in your spirit that no one can see through your body because you have not surrendered your body to Jesus.
There are Christians and there are carnal people. The difference between the two groups is that Christians believe and have accepted Jesus as the sacrifice for their sins. However, some of them are still living and walking in the flesh.
Again, Meyer tells us that we are not supposed to be where we are, but God loves us too much to leave us where he found us. Also, because of this love, we are not going to get into trouble when Jesus comes back and we are not perfected yet. As a matter of fact, none of us are going to be perfect when Jesus comes back. The big “but” is that God expects us to be making progress.
She urged us to look at our lives and have a meeting with ourselves to see if we were really making progress in our relationship with God. The truth is that no one who is truly born-again will not see changes in his life. If there is no change in your life after you have received Christ, there is a problem. If there is no change in your life, particularly your behavior, then you need to go back to the beginning and have a chat with God and yourself.
Meyer reminded us that when Jesus comes to live in our lives through the Holy Spirit, he brings the fruit of the spirit. However, these fruits (love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, etc.) are in seed form. They need to be watered and nurtured with the word of God. When these seeds grow in you, you can have a renewed mind. A renewed mind entails that you will want what God wants. Another thing is that your will will be changed, and you will start to live according to the word of God.
Speaking on holiness, Meyer preaches that we are made holy by being obedient to Jesus Christ. God will never expect you to be holy and act right if he has not given you holiness and righteousness. God has predetermined that he wants us to live holy lives now. However, he doesn’t expect us to do it by ourselves, and that is why he gave us the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is forever going to be with us. He is our teacher, our strengthener, our helper, and the one who convicts us of sin and convinces us of righteousness.
