Joyce Meyer: When God Doesn’t Pick You – Part 2

Here is a message from Joyce Meyer, which is titled, “When God Doesn’t Pick You—Part 2.”

Pastor Joyce teaches us in this message that if we stop looking at what we don’t have and what somebody else has that we wish we had, we have to let God show you what you do have, and then you can begin to function and enjoy what you do have instead of being jealous of what you don’t have. The best decision we can make is to stop being jealous and ask the Holy Spirit to help us discover our purpose. Pastor Joyce says, in our opinion, that she thinks Peter was probably jealous of John because of Peter’s personality. It’s recorded in the Bible at least seven times that John said, I’m the disciple whom Jesus loves. Not everyone will be comfortable with that.

In John 21:14, “Jesus said to Peter, Do you love me? Yes, Lord, you know that I love you, so feed my sheep. Jesus asked him the question twice. It’s beginning to bother Peter that Jesus keeps asking him the same thing over and over. The bottom line of that whole thing is, Well, if you really love me, then go help somebody. If we love God, we don’t have to be jealous of anyone, as long as we do what God has called us to do.

We should ask ourselves, What are we doing to help someone? Every one of us should be helping other people. There’s no way we can be selfish and happy. What God decides to do with other people is absolutely none of our business; what we need to do is deal with our own stuff and trust God that he knows what he’s doing. Maybe you’ve been wondering where your blessings are, or if you’re jealous of somebody else who’s got to go before the blessings can pour in.

A lot of times, when something happens to us, we don’t understand why it’s happening to us, but we forget that we did the same thing to somebody else way back. We have to be good Christians and ask the Holy Spirit to take away the spirit of jealousy. Maybe we are jealous that someone looks better than us, is smarter, and is more popular, but we were created differently for the purpose of God. We have to love ourselves and our own attributes.
