T.D. Jakes Foundation Awards Grant to Greenwood Rising and Wiley College
The T.D. Jakes Foundation, led by the Potters House founder, Bishop T.D. Jakes, in collaboration with Wells Fargo, has announced significant grants to uplift Greenwood Rising and Wiley College.
The first grant of $25,000 is directed toward the Greenwood Rising Black Wall Street History Center. This organization strives to preserve the legacy of Greenwood, a prosperous black district in Tulsa, Oklahoma, tragically destroyed during the 1921 race massacre. The funds will support the Center’s community outreach efforts.
“The @TDJ_Foundation and Wells Fargo are pleased to donate a $25,000 grant for the center’s community outreach efforts and to help increase critical resources,” a social media post announcing the grant read.
Additionally, a much larger $150,000 grant has been designated for Wiley College, a historically black college and university (HBCU)Â in Marshall, Texas. Wiley College has long served as a beacon of opportunity for black students, and the grant will directly support a new financial wellness center establishment.
This center will equip students with essential financial literacy skills, empowering them to achieve financial independence. The benefits are expected to extend beyond the students themselves, creating a ripple effect of financial health throughout the communities they serve.
